How to become a Member
Which is the right membership for me?
If you want to register horses and enter official competitions with a performance card you must be either a Senior member (18 or over) or a Junior member.
- For official dressage, you must be 12 years or older on the day of competition
- For eventing introductory classes in NSW, you must be 11 on the day of competition, for prelim classes you must be 12 on the day of competition and for graded classes (i.e. junior pre-novice) you can compete from the beginning of the calendar year from which you turn 14.
- For official showjumping, you must be turning 12 in that calendar year.
- For saddlehorse, you need to be a Junior or Senior member to compete at the HOTY show.
- For vaulting a person may compete in official competition from the beginning of the calendar year in which they turn 6.
Associate membership is available to those wishing to compete in unofficial/ungraded/"Associate" classes ,e.g. Introductory/Preliminary classes in eventing; or those people wanting to take advantage of the insurance; or those who are just interested in the EFA and want to be kept up to date with our newsletters. Associate membership does not allow voting rights or issuing of performance cards to registered horses.
Officiating membership is available to EFA accredited officials only (your name must appear on an officials list with one of the EFA disciplines) who do not compete or own horses. Official membership does give you voting rights for Board elections and at AGMs.
Corporate membership is available to people wanting to register horses in the name of their company or family name, however anyone competing the horse officially will need to be a financial member in their own right.
Affiliate Club membership is available to incorporated clubs intending to hold EFA official competitions.
Affiliate School membership is available to any school wishing to run competitions under EFA rules.
Affiliate Show Society Membership is available to agriculutral societies wishing to hold official showjumping classes under EFA rules.
All membership are only valid until the 30th June of each calendar year, regardless of joining time.
